Curiosity killed the cat

Put a cat in a box,
       a lion
       the feelings you thought you'd forgotten.
Close it tight and let it fill with toxic fumes.

Hear the scratches,
                roars
        and silence,

but never open it again.
Not unless you're prepared to see them dead. 
Or worse: still alive.
